BBQing in the Snow in Reno, Nevada.

I didn’t have time to do a full newsletter like I usually do. I have been at my sisters house in Reno, Nevada taking care
of my beloved folks.
I did some FUN cooking though.

Just in case you want to add some German to your Memorial day BBQ I wanted to send some
recipes from our greatest hits that I recommend.

My next newsletter with a GREAT spread on Dampfnudel, with music and other goodies next week.

German Style Hamburgers

Einzi Johnson shared this recipe with me
and we found it to be extraordinary.
We could use very lean meat and the
burger held together well due to the small
amount of bread and egg, and had plenty of flavor.
Einzi went on to say that in Germany these
burgers are called Buletten or Frikadellen.
They are not always served on a bun but just
as a main dish.

Schwenkbraten
http://www.kitchenproject.com/german/recipes/Schwenkbraten/index.htm

These are marinated pork steaks BBQued
that make a great sandwich.
Though the cut traditionally used in
Germany is hard to find but it is worth
the effort. The marinade is unique and Sehr Gute!

Pink Curing Salt
So I include 1 oz of this pink curing salt good for several batches of corned beef.

Kitchen Tool Review

The Wooden Spoon

Kitchen Tool Review

The Wooden Spoon

One of my favorite and most used kitchen tools.
I love the feel and sturdiness of a wooden spoon. I can use it in any
non-stick pan, The flat bottom is nice so you can scrape the bottom
to loosen food as it is cooking.
I don't mind paying for a good wooden spoon. I paid 12 dollars for mine
It seems like a lot for a spoon but I use it every day and I love it!
