Cucumber Salad
( Gurkensalat )

INGREDIENTS:

1 large Cucumber, sliced thin
Red onion slices, about 1/2 small red onion
1 teaspoon salt 1/4 Cup water
1/4 cup Vinegar,
apple cider, or rice wine,
2 Tblespoons sugar
Fresh pepper
Dil weed. Fresh or dry For a creamy salad;
1/4 cup Yogurt or sour cream

Peel the cucumber or cut part of the skin off. Here I am using a channel Cutter

You can accomplish a similar thing with a fork ,

Here is how the slice looks with a channel cutter , see how part of the skin is left on. You can also use a vegetable peeler and create something similar.

Here is how they look sliced with a fork.

Here is another way to slice. This tool helps make them very very thin.

Take the slices and place them in a bowl and mix in the salt
Let them sit for an hour or two and drain, if the cucumbers tase salty then rinse them with water to wash some of the salt off
I like to Dry them with a towel, if I am making a creamy cucumber salad
Make the dressing. I like to make it in a glass measuring cup you use only one container.

Blend in the dressing and the onins, dill and fresh cracked pepper;

for a creamy cucumber salad drain the vinegar dressing and blend in the sour cream or yogurt.
