This intersesting recipe is from 1934. The sandwich consists of a roll like a Kaiser bun that is topped with coarse salt and caraway seeds, and piled high with roast beef cooked to a medium rare to medium state, and served with horseradish sauce.

"Weck" is a southern German word for roll. Thin sliced roast beef on a caraway bun This is from the "Beef on Weck" restaurant , Eckl's in Orchard Park, N.Y.

4 Kümmelweck Buns

1 lb of sliced roast cooked medium rare
1 cup Au Jus
4 oz. horseradish

Recipe for Kümmelweck buns


Slice medium rare to medium roast beef thin


Cut Rolls in half


Dip the top bun in the Au Jus


Divide meat and put on the sandwich ,

Put the top bun on the sandwich


Serve with tangy Horseradish
