We take a topic or a general concept and, using dedication, love and a lot of thought, come up with all kinds of ideas and different perspectives on the concept. We make these ideas "interactive" by presenting them through our forums and asking for your contributions and feedback.
Stephen Block, our guiding Chef, is a trained, award-winning Chef with twenty-five years experience. Nine and a half of those years, Chef Stephen operated the Blacksmith shop and Broiler in Bend, Oregon. He is presently Chef at Mrs. Beasley's in Redmond, Oregon. Stephen is interested in discovering those things that are truly profound in the world of food and making them easy to access and understand.
Different cooks using the same ingredients often produce very different results. One dish may be average, while another seems to have that element of "magic". The Project seeks to uncover these magic elements and put them into procedures that are simple to follow - incredibly simple, if possible.
Good, honest food, food with integrity, is usually simple and clean tasting. Our chief objective is to elevate or frame the simple, beautiful foods of the world and try to help you prepare them with great skill and ease.
