On-Line Cookbook

This is the place to develop your computer cookbook. The Project will post all kinds of neat ideas here; for instance, one family’s cookbook is based on activities they enjoyed and the dishes that are special to them, such as some of the movies they watched together as they had dinner. They name dishes after a famous or funny quote in the movie, like "My darling, my hamburger" (from the movie "Dangerous Minds")… How about "Make my Meatloaf" or, "Hasta la Vista Baked Beans"? I’m sure you get the picture.

Speaking of pictures, there is no better way to personalize your cookbook that by scanning and posting pictures along with the recipes. At any rate, this is the place for ideas on developing your own personalized cookbook. Join the on-line Cookbook forum and let’s exchange ideas.

Now, onto how you can create an online cookbook!

Creating an Online cookbook.

  1. Click on the title of the recipe you want to put in your Cookbook. In this case, "What About Bob Chicken"

  2. Click on the "File" menu at the top left of your browser window. Then click on "Save As"

  3. Go to the Desktop.

  4. Create a new folder called recipes, Betty's recipe stash, Tom's secret formulas, or anything that tickles your fancy!

  5. Double-Click on the new folder.

  6. Click on save and you're done!

Now, as you get a lot of recipes you can make new folders in your recipe folder. Title them appetizers, soups, salads, side dishes, entrees, desserts, fun stuff, neat articles and so on. Move the recipes into the folders and have a recipe folder on your desktop for easy access. Be careful and make sure to back them up to floppies or a Zip disk, you wouldn't want to lose your recipes!

You can also print out recipes you use a lot and put them on your refrigerator. And for you health conscious people, print out the equivalencies, conversion charts and substitution guide, weights and measurements and post it right next to the recipes!

Here is a sample recipe that you can add to your own personal on-line cookbook:

Since our family frequently eats and watches a movie together, we thought we'd put a certain movie with the recipe. This way the event is not just "focus on the tube" We often have favorite lines from a movie that for some reason seem to stick like glue and we throw them back and forth at each other, especially at opportune times, till we run them into the ground. To view and save the recipe, click on the name and follow the instructions listed above! Simple!

"What about Bob" Chicken
Do you remember when Bob was eating chicken, and went UM UM UM, and kept on doing it till the doctor exploded? Well we love it and decided to make: "What about Bob" Chicken.
