SCHLESISCHE KASETASCHEN : SILESIAN CHEESE CASES

6 servings.

1 ( 10 oz.) package frozen puff paste patty shells, thawed
1 (3 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup creamed cottage cheese
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup raisins
1 egg yolk

Roll out patty shells to approximately 8 inch diameter. Beat together cream cheese, cottage cheese, sugar, raisins and egg yolk. Divide cheese filling in 6 equal portions, placing one in center of each round. Bring 6 equidistant points on outer edge to center, one at a time, moistening with water and pressing together lightly to seal. Place cases on ungreased cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 450 F. Place cookie sheet into oven and immediately lower temperature to 375 F.
Bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet. If desired, drizzle a glaze of 1 cup confectioners' sugar mixed with 1-2 tablespoons water over cases while still warm. Cool.
