Grandma Hilda's Butterscotch Cookies.
1 cup Butter- softened
4 cups Brown Sugar
4 Eggs
2 Tbs. baking soda
1/4 cup warm water
2 Tbs. cream of tartar
7 cups of Flour
[ I always mix these by hand ]
Cream Butter, beat in sugar slowly
Beat in Eggs one at a time.
Mix the baking soda with the water.
Beat into creamed mixture.
Add in 2 cups of Flour with the cream
of tartar mixed in.
Add in enough Flour to make a stiff
Dough.
Form dough into long logs. wrap in
Wax paper. and chill over night.
Slice into 1/2 inch slices.
Bake on greased sheets.
At 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes
These Cookies keep well forget how
many it makes... I know a lot.
I have halved the recipe. for my self..
