with Baking Powder

Enough for 2- 9 x 13 Kuchens or 4- 9 X 9 Kuchens

This is a basic ratio, you can double it if you want.

Ingredients:

AP Flour
520 grams (4 cups + 2 Tablespoons) (1 lb 3 oz )

Sugar
200 grams (1 cup) (7 oz)

28 grams (2 Tblsp) ( 1 oz) Baking Powder

15 grams (1teasp Salt)

Weigh out the AP Flour to 520 grams,
Alternatively 1 lb 3 oz or 4 cups plus 3 tablespoons


Weigh out the Sugar
200 grams

Alternatively 7 oz or 2 cups

Weigh out the baking powder
28 grams
alternatively 1 oz or 2 Tablespoons

Weigh out the salt,
5 grams
alternatively 1 teaspoon

Mix all the ingredients together well for at least 1 minute to get everything well blended.

Store in a large jar or container.

For one 9" x 13 " crust measure out 375 grams which is about 2 1/2 cups.

To it add the wet ingredients

1/2 cup milk,

1 egg

1 stick butter melted, or 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Add all ingredients and mix

bring the dough into a ball to insure well blended. But don't over knead it.

Press the dough in the pan

For a 9 x9 or Springform pan
Measure out

1 1/2 cups of the mix

add 1 egg and 1/4 cup milk and 1/2 stick of butter melted.
mix and press into a 9 inch or 10 inch Springform pan

Biography of my grandma
Emma Block
From Germany with Love tells the story of my grandma, Emma Block, growing up in a little town in Baden/ Würtemberg, Germany near Heidelberg named Steinsfurt. Then at the age of 15 immigrating to the United States, taking a train with one of her sisters and brothers to Hamburg and sailing the Atlantic with other hope filled Germans wanting to make a life in the "New World". It was not easy but with good values learned in her German upbringing made a full life, had a wonderful family with lots of fun and celebration including the great German meals.
